Online counselling can be very focused and might be right for you for a variety of reasons:

  • Perhaps you are unable to commit to regular face to face sessions because of your work or travel situation.

  • You might not be able to get away from home due to responsibilities to others; you might have children or be caring for a relative.

  • It could be that you have a disability or are not well enough to come away from home.

  • Online counselling is ideal for deaf people as it saves the need for an interpreter or finding a counsellor who can speak sign language.

  • You may find making or keeping appointments stressful, or are not comfortable with seeing someone face to face.

  • Maybe the anonymity of an online relationship would feel more comfortable.

  • People find it helpful to write their thoughts; reflecting on what's been written and seeing the progress made as we exchange e-mails.

While there are many benefits to choosing online therapy, for some, face to face work might be more suitable. For example, it does have its limitations in terms of the lack of physical presence.  It is not possible to read body language, facial expression or changes in voice tone in an e mail and this is an important aspect of face to face work. It is most important that the client considers carefully which support would most suit them, both on a practical and personal level.

Remember if you are in immediate crisis seek help straight away www.samaritans.org

If you have access to a computer and can use e-mail you might find this method of communication a safe and effective means of support and begin to find a way forward through your problems.

I am trained in online counselling and offer a free initial discussion where you can ask me any questions without obligation.
Please look around the website.
